Patricia Murphy is an visual artist who creates vivid abstract, contemporary paintings, installations and textiles. Her work plays with space, illusion and balance. It is driven by the contradiction of creating movement and finding stillness. Contemporary and energy driven in approach, she uses colour to create art of verve and conviction. She describes it as finding a way to visualise energy. Patricia’s aim is that her work enhances an area, becoming a focal point which brings an impression of light and energy to the space. She has created a significant body of commissioned work for clients who include Government Departments, Corporate, Health and Educational Institutions as well as many private clients. A graduate of The National College of Art and Design Patricia’s work is found in many public and private collections including recent commissions for University College Dublin and Dublin City Council. Patricia’s work has been exhibited internationally including in the UK, France, USA, Germany, Italy and Finland. In 2013 and 15 she represented Ireland in the Sant Antioco Biennale of Painting in Italy. Her paintings and textiles are in private collections all over the world.
