Shane Holland trained as an industrial designer at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin and the University of Limerick between 1984 and 1989. He worked as a technician in the N.C.A.D industrial department from 1989 to 1996 whilst also setting up his original studio in 1991. Originally working the design and film business in the early 90’s his worked moved towards developing his own brand of furniture and lighting products. Since then his studio has won numerous awards and worked for many international clients. Shane founded “Cream of Irish design”, an umbrella group which has become “Design Island” in 2010 as a way to promote good design from Ireland via exhibitions and events in Ireland and abroad. He has also developed links with many colleges through lecturing on the subject of design. He has been involved in design organisations such as IDI institute of designers Ireland and DBI Design business Ireland. His work is in the permanent collection of the National Museum in Ireland.
