Shóna Slemon is a visual artist originally from Galway, now based between Cork Printmakers and Sample-Studios. She graduated with a BA in Printmaking and Contemporary Practice from Limerick School of Art and Design in 2015. Upon graduating, she received an Emerging Artist Bursary Award from Cork Printmakers. During this residency she held two solo exhibitions; Athbheo and There Isn’t in Anything Only Awhile. Slemon’s work is concerned with the underlying principles determining growth, the form it produces and its relationship with human consciousness. Nature is constantly affected by
metamorphic transformations, which results in scars upon the earth’s surface. This body of work is informed by the traces of these changes and draws on the patterns that make up the surfaces and forms of the natural world.
